Imagine that you have invited some of your American friends from Texas over to your house for dinner in your country, and you want to cook a “traditional” meal from their area of the United States. Use the Internet to look up a recipe of what you might consider a typical American dish.
Hi, I’m Randall. And I’m here in our kitchen, getting ready for dinner. Often, people think that in America (the United States), people only eat fast food; however, in our family, we usually have dinner, perhaps around 7:00 o’clock in the evening. And, uh, we have a variety of foods. Right behind me, we have some Mexican food, some fajitas, but we probably eat fish once a week. We have beef, we have pork. A lot of different things including salads. Uh, we eat together as a family; we just think that’s important to build our family relationships. And so, I’m just getting ready here to enjoy dinner in a few minutes.
Culture Note: Randall’s family does eat a lot of chicken, but he didn’t mention it in the video. Also, his family sometimes has the children’s friends over so he and his wife can get to know them better.
